Personal Statement
Prior to my high school’s rivalry football game in 2013, my friends and I were throwing the football around outside the stadium. One of my friends kicked the ball and I decided to kick it back. After kicking the ball a good distance and into the trees, I knew I wanted to kick inside the stadium for my high school. After the rivalry game, I began to develop the unique skill of kicking a football. I practiced through the offseason trying to improve a different aspect of my technique. The following season I sent the head football coach an email asking for a tryout. He granted me a tryout and one week later I was on the varsity football team.
Over the last three years, kicking has taught me a variety of intangible characteristics. The biggest characteristics was determination. When I first joined the team, the starting kicker was a three year starter. I knew that it would be a difficult task to obtain a starting spot, but this situation did not deter me. When I began practicing with the team, my dad would always tell me “work hard, have fun and get better every day.” With this mindset I began to improve myself as a player, teammate, and friend. After a year and a half of hard work and patience, I took over the kickoff duties in my second season. The third season saw me handle all kicking and punting duties.
So if you are looking for a kicker who is hard working and experienced I am your guy.
