Personal Statement
I started playing tackle football as a scrawny 4th grader in a 4th-6th grade youth recreation league. My dad was my coach and taught me from day one that football is a sport unlike any other. He taught me about dedication, loyalty and work ethic while passing on his passion for the game. I have learned that in football, you have to put your trust in your teammates and give them a reason to put their trust in you. You can't take a play off in football, because if you do, you may end up hurt or even worse, one of your teammates may end up hurt. I have never been the biggest football player on the grid iron. In fact, I tend to be one of the smaller guys, whether it be at the youth, middle school or now high school level. However, I have found myself lined up against one of those bigger players in almost every game I have played either at the center position on offense or even at the linebacker position on defense. I don't look at my size as a negative though. And I am not tiny. I am 6'0" 175 lbs. and still growing. Also football is a game of technique, angles, inches, and mental toughness. I will never be the biggest player on the field but I will be one of the players with the best technique and most heart. I also will never quit. I will challenge myself every play, every series and every quarter and won't be satisfied unless I am beating that bigger player on the other side of the line of scrimmage. Having said all of this, I am committed to getting bigger, faster and stronger to improve my chance of success while playing. I have been weight training consistently for 2 years now in my high school weight room but recently made a commitment to commute almost 2 hours away to work with the closest Parisi Speed School trainers to prepare me for football at the next level. I am excited about this commitment and I am really looking forward to learning how to properly work out, eat and rest to improve my game. Bigger, Faster, Stronger. A goal I can and will achieve.
