As far back as I can remember, I’ve always had a ball of some sort in my hands. From play time to nap time and everything in between, you can say that sports, especially football, has been a part of me and I a part of it. In fact, my uncle always jokes that I was a “baller before I was a crawler.”
I got my official start playing youth football when I was in third grade. Back then, it was more like organized chaos, but I loved every minute of it. I often slept in my jersey the day before the games anxiously waiting for the chance to step onto the gridiron and battle it out with my teammates and the other kids in town. Over the years, my love for the game has continued to strengthen and I am looking forward to playing at the next level.
I have always been a very versatile player and take pride in my ability to be adaptable and disciplined both on and off the field. The skills I acquired while playing quarterback and running back earlier in my football career have helped prepare me for my switch over to the defensive side of the game in the last few years. In my dual role as defensive end and defensive tackle, my ability to scan the field and routinely make quick decisions under pressure, as well as anticipate, and make adjustments when needed will make me a key asset to any college football program.
Additionally, football has instilled in me the value of hard work, humility, sacrifice and most importantly accountability. I do my best to lead by example and always encourage and support my teammates so they too can be their best selves. I’m very coachable and will always strive to be a lifelong student of the game.
Off the field, I also study hard. I’ve been taking a range of honors and AP classes since my sophomore year and have continued to maintain a high-grade point average. I’ve also received numerous student-athlete academic awards and my varsity letter in two sports. I participate in team-led volunteer activities during the offseason and have recently began assisting a local non-profit with community events and programs.
I am interested in pursuing a degree in exercise science so I can study human movement and help future athletes improve in their respective sports.
Thank you for your consideration.
