Personal Statement
My name is Jarrett Northrop, I am a 6’4 and 190 lbs. quarterback and a student at 2A Southern High School in Hardwood, Maryland who has a passion for Football. I have a 3.8 cumulative GPA and I am very involved with my school, having been elected into the Student Government, chosen to be on the Principal’s Advisory Council, and an active member of the National Honor Society. I am a multiple sport athlete playing basketball and baseball along with football while still having time to excel in academics and at my part time job working at a country club. I started playing football in the second grade, but have loved it for as long as I can remember. In fact before I knew anything else, my first word was “touchdown.”
Playing football is a major factor in where I intend to choose to continue my education. This past season, our team fell short of its goal of qualifying for the play-offs, but I intend to change that next season. I suffered a broken collarbone during our fourth game last year, but have trained hard to comeback better than ever and lead the Southern Bulldogs back to the play-offs.
Coming from a military family, where both my Grandfather and Father served, I have learned the importance of hard work and dedication. I consider myself a very versatile player and can play Tight End or Wide Receiver, but Quarterback is what I am perusing as my first option. I believe I am the right choice for your college or university and will undoubtedly be an asset to your program’s success. Many players say they're driven, but very few are willing to do what others won't -- in order to accomplish what others can't, and I am one of those few.
