Neil "Ricky" Harps '11 Recruiting Profile

Hi, Coach. My name is Neil Harps, Jr. My friends call me Ricky. I am a senior at Charles H. Flowers High School in Springdale, MD. I play wide receiver, corner back and I return punts and kick-offs. I am 6" 1 , I weigh about 175 pounds and my standing reach is 94 inches. At the Playmaker Combine in January, 2011, I ran a time of 4.50 in the 40 yard dash and 4.47 in the shuttle, my broad jump was 8 2? 9?? and my vertical leap was 27 inches. I've played football since I was nine years old. I played on the South Bowie Sharks Boys and Girls Club football team through junior high school. My Dad was the teams offensive coordinator. I was a team captain for three years including the year we won the P.G. County Boys and Girls Club Championship in 2005. I also played Boys and Girls Club basketball, and ran track. But football is the game I love to play. My goal is to play football in college. I have the talent and skill to be an impact player. But I can always learn and improve. I am a very coach able player and I will do whatever the coach asks me to do if it will help the team win. I don't take plays off and I play every down until the whistle blows. I think I can use my skills best on a team that runs a spread offense or one that has a balanced attack. I have grown up a lot in the last year. I now understand that being a college football player requires a lot more that being a good athlete. It also requires that I be a good student. I have chosen to put forth the same effort in the classroom that I do on the playing field. My grades this year will be a better reflection of my academic abilities than my earlier grades in high school. I am working hard to be prepared for college in the fall of 2011. I am not sure about what I would like to major in but I am interested in athletic training, sports management, business management and kinesiology. All I want is an opportunity to prove myself and I will make the most of it. Thank you for your consideration.
