Personal Statement
I was proud to be named the starting quarterback as a junior for one of the top ranked teams in the state. Cheverus High School has gone to or won the Class A State Championship or Semi Final game 5 years in a row.
The things that separate me are:
Leadership - I work with all kinds of different people and skill sets and get them all on the same page is something that I do to produce a win at the end of the week. I also keep my poise under pressure. In a game against our archrivals, in front of 4000 people, I threw on 4th downs for a touchdown and a 1st down in the fourth quarter to extend the game tying drive which sent the game to overtime where we won the game.
Preparation – I understand that every game is won during the week, in practice, in meetings, and in the film room. Everyone has the will to win, but the will to prepare is what separates talented players from consistently excellent players. Through my film study I’m able to recognize coverages and find the open man quickly.
Mechanics - I throw on the run naturally. I play on a run heavy team but when my number is called, especially on 3rd and 4th downs, I am able to move the sticks consistently by both throwing and running the ball myself.
Competitive Grit – For most games you can win on just preparation and talent, but when we have a big game we talk about passion, poise and purpose. I believe my passion and relentless tenacity are what makes me a better leader and quarterback.
Championship Level Character - The motto of my school is "Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam" - For the greater glory of God. For me, that is more of a way of life than just a motto.
