Personal Statement
My name is Jarrett K. Smith and I am a 6'1' 260 lb. strong agile defensive tackle who thrives on matching my wits and strength against my opponents. I am a self-motivated student-athlete who works hard in every aspect of my life.
On the field, I play DT, LT, and RG. My size, strength, and intensity allows me to compete with anyone. I study the teams I play to be better prepared to handle them. I am very coachable and my work ethic is outstanding. My team and I finished our 2016 season with a 9-3 record, playing in the third round of the play-offs. I finished the year with 54 tackles (19 solo, 35 assisted), 12 TFL's, 2 Sacks, and a Fumble Recovery. I have increased my lifting maxes to 335 lb. bench, 475 lb. squat, and a 550lb. dead lift.
In the classroom, I work just as hard. I take great pride in my cumulative GPA of 4.1 (4.0) taking honors classes. As a senior, I am taking 3 International Baccalaureate (IB) High Level classes (Biology, History, English-each 2 year classes) while taking Calculus, Forensic Science, Sociology, and Sports & Society. It is a challenging schedule so that I am best prepared for a strong academic college/university. I am also a member of the National Honor Society and received an Academic Letter my freshman, sophomore, and junior year. I plan on pursuing a Pre-Med/Biology degree. At our football banquet November 19, 2015, I was elected one of the 2016 Captains and worked hard to lead my team to a conference title and District title. I was voted our Team's Defensive MVP at our Dec. 1, 2016 football banquet. I am also an All-Conference First team award winner on Defense and Second Team Offense.
