I am Michael DeRoy from Sterling Heights, Michigan. I attend Henry Ford II High School and believe I have the dedication and athleticism to be in a college program.
I have played running back, fullback and defensive back as well as punt and kick returner. I have the ability to learn plays quickly and fill-in where the coaches need me to play. Going into my senior year I will be a four-time starter and captain. I lead by example and earn the respect of my teammates and coaches. I feel my dedication and work in the off-season is what propelled me to become a captain and earned the respect of my team. My work ethic is a result of my love for the game. I have committed myself to improving my skills in all parts of the game. I have always felt a great passion towards the sport. Before my last season started, I fulfilled a need for the team and was transitioned from running back to fullback, which developed my pass and run blocking. I am willing and able to do what is asked for the good of the team. This spring and summer I plan on attending various college camps and continue to work on my strength, speed, agility, and technique.
I take as much pride in my academic achievements as my athletics. I currently have a 3.84 GPA and have received a high score of a 26 on my ACT tests which I plan to retake again in June. I am a member of the National Honors Society and also run Spring track. In college I would like to pursue my interests in Exercise Science and Kinesiology. I wish to have a rewarding career in which I can help people and provide assistance and advancement for athletes to keep them at their prime.
