Personal Statement
I believe I will be a good candidate for a team at a high academic institution. I have a proven track record of being a committed and accomplished student-athlete that also possesses the character suitable to be awarded to the National Honor Society and the highest scout rank of Eagle Scout.
I am currently a senior at Grand Ledge High School, which is a Division 1 school located in Grand Ledge, Michigan. I have been a lineman with experience on both sides of the ball since I was in third grade. In high school I have played primarily on the OL as the starting guard. During my freshman year (2013), I was the only player moved up to our schools JV team to start at left guard. Our team won the JV 2013 CAAC Blue Conference Title. In 2014, I was the starting right guard and chosen by the coaches to be a team captain. Our team won the 2014 JV CAAC Blue Conference title. I was the starting right guard on our 2015 Varsity team consisting of 61 players, of which 32 were returning seniors. Our 2015 team went 12-1 and won the Conference, District and Regional Championship with our only loss at State semi-finals to the team that won States. I was a major contributor on the team and 1 of 12 kids out of my large high school (2 junior football players) nominated and selected to participate in an area leadership course. My team went 7-3 this year losing in the first round of the playoffs. I played left and right guard, as well as defensive tackle on this year's team.
Academically, I have a 4.03 GPA and a member of the National Honor Society. I have received the All Academic - All Conference Award in Football and Wrestling since 2013 - Present. I am also taking AP courses. I am an active member of the Boy Scouts of America and I have completed a significant county wide project that allowed me to be awarded the Honor of Eagle, something that only 2.1% of the scouting population completes.
I have been a student-athlete my whole life and hope to continue as one during college and believe I would be a good candidate for a University with a great academic and football program.
Thank you for your consideration!
