Personal Statement
There is nothing worse than experiencing the pain of being called losers at the age of seven years old. That pain was interjected by the jeers and criticism of our fans as we played on the city wide pee-wee football team. During my first year of playing, we lost in the championship game by a touchdown and I still can remember the look on my teammates faces after the lost. Looking back on that experience, I feel I have matured and grown into a better athlete, teammate, and person. I don't let the criticism from the fans take away my focus from becoming a better athlete. I realized that the better prepared team will be the victorious one, which in turn placed my focus on working harder in practices and during game time.
I play on a team which has a long winning tradition. Just this year, I was fortunate to win a State Champion ring as a freshman. During this year, I have learned better teamwork skills and commitment to the program. I also play tennis and have had to learn how to manage playing both sports. As a third year player and our tennis team losing a lot of seniors from last year, I was placed in a leadership role this season that I was more than willing to accept. I plan to finish high school being academically eligible to pursue a degree in Information Technology. I am looking for a college program that puts emphasis on the whole athlete, academically and athletically. I believe that my character and hard working attitude would be a great fit for your program!
