Personal Statement
From an early age, my parents instilled in my two brothers and I the value of having a strong work ethic. They always expected the best and did not leave any room for excuses. Playing football was never a requirement, but striving to be the best student I can be was not only required but expected. Through the years I did not always understand why I was held to such a higher standard than those around me; but as I got older I quickly began to realize that there was indeed a method to the madness.
Although my brothers did not play sports, watching them excel both academically and in their chosen fields taught me a lot about dedication and perseverance. As a football player I always take the principles and examples that were instilled in me at an early age onto the field. Being a very coachable player with a lot of heart, I always look for ways I can be better. My high school coach told me I needed to get stronger – so in addition to regular workouts I spend many days pushing a Ford F-150 around a parking lot to build my strength. My dad said I needed to gain foot speed – so I jump rope often to build foot speed. I spend almost every summer at football camps, to be challenged by other athletes and coaches. Those are only some of the ways that I continuously welcome feedback and use it to help mold and develop me into a better athlete.
It has always been a dream of mine to play football and be a student athlete at the next level. I work tirelessly to constantly improve and be the best player I can be. There is no doubt that I will continue to get bigger, faster and stronger every day. I am no stranger to hard work, which can be shown both on and off the field. There is no doubt that, if given the chance, I can be an invaluable asset.
