Hey, I am Carson Langford, a class of 2022 kicker/punter for my high school football team in Saltillo, Mississippi. After high school I am looking to start working toward a career in nursing and would be honored to play football while taking my pre-requisite courses. What makes me feel like a good candidate for your team would be my work ethic and sportsmanship. Before I started high school I had only played baseball. My 9th grade year things didn't work out as I had hoped in that sport, so I became the manager for the football team. At the end of the season our kicker graduated and I decided that I wanted to work to earn the spot and began playing football. I didn't have a soccer background and knew I had to work hard. Working with a friend that had kicking experience in college and the NFL is where I started. My first season (sophomore year) I did not preform well and I was very discouraged. This is when I started training with kicking coaches and going to kicking camps. I had known going into my sophomore year that the kicker gets a lot of flack for messing up and this became real to me. I was only allowed the opportunity to kick four extra points the entire season and I only made one of them. I was sad and disappointed and felt like I had let a lot of people down. I knew then that I had to work super hard during the offseason to show my coaches, teammates, school, fans, and myself that I could do better. I trained and worked all summer and at the beginning of my junior year my coaches began to notice what I had been doing during the offseason had made a difference. Once the season started my teammates and our fans also noticed. I was put in multiple games to kick field goals and often put the first points of our games on the board. I was also put in to punt us out of some tight situations. While I recognize I still have work to do, I did what I could to help my team and defensive players, and for that my teammates and coaches were thankful. At the end of the season I was selected for the Mississippi 5A - All-Division 2nd team. I still have areas to improve and have been working hard this off season so that my senior season shows even more improvement and I can do my best kicking and punting for my team this up-coming season.
