Personal Statement

I’m a student athlete at Ft Zumwalt South high school in O’Fallon MO, class of 2022.   I’ve played football since 2013.   I've started at  Offensive Guard (OG), Long Snapper(LS), and Defensive Tackle (DT) during my freshman year.   My sophomore year I started varsity at OG/LS.  I missed my junior year of football due to a torn ACL (Jan 2020).   While my primary positions have been on Offense, I rotated in and played significant amounts of time on the defensive line.   During my freshman year, I was one of two freshman lineman that was asked to dress out for the varsity football games as a backup lineman.

At the year-end football banquets for both freshman and sophomore years, individual awards were given for tenacious effort, competitive excellence, and selfless attitude.   A fourth award was given that encompasses all three of the qualities listed above and I was fortunate enough to receive that award.   While describing me, my coach made comments such as “intelligent”, “doesn’t take plays off”,  and “constantly willing to help those around him”.

In addition to football, I also wrestle. My first year (8th grade), I won the Missouri AAU championship for first year wrestlers.   As a high school freshman wrestler, I was one of only two freshman awarded their own locker and “dog tags”.   I received this award for my sophomore season also.   This award is given to wrestlers that attend 75 off-season workouts prior to the season starting.   My wrestling profile is here. http://www.trackwrestling.com/tw/membership/ViewProfile.jsp?TIM=1543270275670&twSessionId=iogmbaflll&twId=468408132

During my freshman season, I wrestled for the freshman and numerous JV tournaments and even wrestled in a Varsity dual.    I finished the season at 21-12 and 2nd in our Freshman Conference Tournament.

Unfortunately half way through my sophomore season of wrestling, I tore my ACL (Jan 2020).   I was determined to get back to sports.   While on my rehab, I was able to get work out and finished a month ahead of schedule on rehab.   This allowed me to return for the last week of the season in which I saw very limited playing action the last game and our playoff game.

During my Junior year, 12 months after ACL surgery, I took 2nd at Districts and 3rd at Sectionals and became of the 12 wrestlers to qualify for the Missouri State Wrestling Tournament.

During my freshman and sophomore years (prior to ACL tear),  I attended 100% of the off-season football weight-lifting sessions.    During wrestling season, I attend wrestling practice before and after school.    I will continue to attend off-season football weights in the morning and off-season wrestling practices after wrestling season is complete.

I have a 3.94 unweighted GPA and a 4.3 weighted GPA.  I've taken many Pre-AP classes and plan to take more my senior year.

I take things seriously and I’m willing to put in the extra work, which is hopefully demonstrated above with my additional training and off-season workout routines.

Thank you for taking the time to review my profile.
