Personal Statement
In my junior year, we won a total of two games and lost seven, but I have never been part of a football program that was as much of a family as that team. When I am looking for a football program, I don't care as much about the wins and losses as I care about what the program stands for and putting forth my ultimate effort for the team.
As a three-sport athlete and a three-sport captain (football, wrestling, and rugby), I am striving year round to improve my strength, athleticism, and leadership. I also love to serve in my community. Most of my service revolves around football, where I help coach youth football, tutor my teammates in math, and mentor in the grade school. I also serve others through Boy Scouts as I work toward attaining Eagle Scout next year.
I believe I am a great leader. I take my role as varsity captain for football, wrestling, and rugby very seriously. I try to lead by example by doing whatever it takes to get the job done, by making good choices, leading our team's volunteer efforts, and by spending a lot of time with my younger teammates.
I have a 27 ACT, a 3.4 GPA (3.34 unweighted), and a 3.94 GPA in my college-level engineering classes. I have taken 18 semester units of honors and AP classes. I continue to extend myself in all areas of my life. I believe if your life is running smoothly, you aren't pushing yourself hard enough. I am a firm believer in my Christian faith with the help of my offensive line coach Bradley Dahlman, who is the leader of FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes).
