Personal Statement
I have been playing football since I was 9 years old. The community that I live in takes all sports very seriously and because of that, we are very successful. My father moved us to Webb City in 2008 because he didn't like living in Mobile, Al. He works away for a month at a time and he liked the security of Webb City as well as the academics and athletics here. He also grew up with the head coach so that probably had some influence. I went to my first high school game and was hooked on the tradition and excitement of Friday nights in our stadium. I may have never played football in Mobile.
My goals relative to football are the same as they are relative to life in general. I want to be as good as I absolutely can be in every aspect of my life. If I have any success at all in football but I'm not a good big brother, what success have I really achieved? If I'm a good player and not a good student, I'm not achieving much. I want to be involved with a program that makes me a better person. I want to be involved in a program that cares about what happens to me after I've left the program. My work ethic and positive attitude are qualities that I think have gotten me this far. I love the weight room. I love the competition in the weight room. I feel like that's where success begins and I've never been afraid of competition. I think the biggest difference between me and some other kids is my ability to focus on the task in front of me. That doesn't mean I'm any better than the next kid, but only that I can eliminate the mess around me and concentrate on the job at hand.
My academic goals are simple: Graduate with a 3.5 GPA in Education and get my Masters Degree. Most importantly though, above everything, is I don't ever want to be selfish. I don't ever want to put my own success above that of the team's success. I want to be known as a good teammate that did whatever it took to help my team get better. I want to be an example.
