Personal Statement
My name is Brian Jakubowski and I have been playing football since I could run. As a young kid, playing rec football, I learned the fundamentals of the game. Values such as dedication, determination, discipline, a desire to succeed have been ingrained in my daily routine from coaches and family ever since.
These values are not limited to my passion for the game but are applicable to my time off the field as well. I have recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. Additionally, I have been a part of Sentinel DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) for the past 2 years, qualifying for National competition each year I’ve been a member. This past year, having already been committed to Varsity football and continuing to work on completing my Eagle rank, I joined the Speech and Debate team where I was able to obtain my Letter for S&D in my first year participating, having qualified for state level competition.
After High School I plan on earning a degree in Nursing with a focus on Emergency services. The emergency room is often a high stress, crisis filled work environment where quick thinking, staying calm and remaining clear minded is crucial in many life and death situations. An Emergency services nurse is a lot like a Cornerback reading an offensive play as it’s happening and being able to react and adjust accordingly as needed for a successful outcome.
My desire to continue to play football in college is about continuing to push myself to do better and overcome the challenges before me as I have done previously by earning Varsity starting positions as an underclassman over more seasoned Senior year players.
I look forward to having an opportunity to continue my passion for football and being a successful student athlete who will be able to carry on the Scout Oath and Law and by giving back to my community and nation as a healthcare professional.
