Personal Statement
My name is Josh Callaway. I am 17 years old, and I am a senior at Cathedral High School located in Natchez, Mississippi. I am 6'2" tall, and weigh 265 pounds. I have played football every since I was old enough to join a league, and I am looking for an opportunity to continue playing at the next level. I have lettered all four years I have played high school football, and for the past three years, I have been a starter on both defense and offense. On offense, I play either tackle or guard, depending upon the play called. On defense, I play either tackle or nose guard, again depending on the defense coach calls. While Cathedral is a private school, we play in the Mississippi public school league, so we are usually playing larger schools. This past year, our team won the district championship, but lost out in the second round of the State playoffs. We are hoping for even more success this year. I was fortunate enough to be voted onto the All-District First Team, and I was also voted onto the All-County First Team. The video on this site is a junior year highlight film, but I have compiled a senior hightlight film for anyone interested. Currently, I have a 3.5 g.p.a., and I am ranked 13th out of the 42 people that are in my class. I made a 26 on my ACT, but hope to get that score up. I will have no problem meeting all of the NCAA requirements to play college football, should the opportunity arise. I have not decided on a major, but my parents are going to take me to the Johnson O'Connor testing center to test and discover my strongest aptitudes for a particular occupation. I do not have any particular preferences as to where I attend college, and I am keeping an open mind about that decision, right now. My parents are very supportive, and they have agreed to take me to visit several colleges. I am not concerned so much with the size of the college, but I do want to attend a university or college with an academic reputation that will help me obtain a job following college.
