Thank you for reviewing my Recruiting Profile. I wanted to take a minute and share my collegiate goals and aspirations. I want to attend a University and receive a quality education that enables me to achieve success in life and at the same time continue to play a game that I feel so passionate about. All of this will allow me to play a game I love and possibly give back financially though academics and athletics to the people that have supported me all my life. I want to continue and grow my work ethic that will make me a key contributor to my team and institution. I want to be on that field come game day and stand out in the classroom.
I have always had a strong work ethic. I have went from very little playing time in Middle School, to 1st team All - Conference my Junior year. Combined with Academic achievement, I feel that this makes me a good candidate for many quality football programs. I have always and will continue to do what is asked of me to make the team better, with off season preparation, practice, and on game days during the football season. It is just as important for me to see my teammates be successful as well, both on and off the field.
What makes me different from other recruits is that I do not need to be in the spotlight. I will do the little things to achieve success as a team, as well as contribute through big plays to reach the ultimate goal of coming out a winner. In the end however, what is most important to me is how I represent myself, my family, my school and my team. Everything I have received as it pertains to success in athletics came from hard work and a desire to succeed. I have always, and will continue to get better as long as I am given the opportunity to play this game. It is the best way to show the respect this game deserves as an athlete. I do not view Academics as a tool to be eligible to play football. Rather this is my tool for Life success, and at the same time Football and Wrestling are contributors to becoming the man I expect myself to be. Athletics will come to an end and I want to give 100% of myself to experience every bit of time awarded to me competing. Academics is my future and there is no option to fail. I have to come out on top.
To summarize, I asked my Head Coach for his input on my growth as a student athlete. Not only am I proud of the player he sees in me, but most important is the person he sees:
Head Football Coach Chris Adams writes:
"Mason is very Coachable, he handles feedback well and wants to do the little things right. He has a very Good Work Ethic not only on the field, but in the weight room and classroom as well. He has very High Academic Achievement maintaining good grades in challenging courses. Mason hates to lose, which makes him very Competitive. Although just a Junior he is a Leader both on and off the field, always setting the example. As primarily a run offense, Mason is an excellent Run Blocker and plays very Physical at the Tight End position. When asked to do so, he Runs Good Routes and has the ability to Make Catches and Gain Yardage – especially on third down keeping drives alive. Versatile in that he can play on the defensive side of the ball as a Defensive End or Outside Linebacker when needed. He is a key contributor on all special teams."
