My name is Thomas Spears. I was born in Ethiopia in 2006 and moved to Nebraska when I was 4 years old. I am 5’7” and 145 pounds and I run the 400m and 300m hurdles on our High School Varsity team.
I have participated in many sports, but my true love is football. I was playing touch football as a first grader, and tackle starting in 3rd grade. In 2023 I was my High School’s starting free safety and a starting wide receiver. I also was the team’s primary punt returner. By the end of the season I was the team’s #1 solo tackler, had 2 interceptions, 7 pass breakups and 5 touchdowns. I also tied the school record for number of career Interceptions with 9. I was selected for the all district team for the 3rd year in a row, and all-state class C1 for the 2nd year. In the Spring of 2024 I am playing 7v7 for the Nelite 18U, competing in national Battle-sponsored tournaments and playing against the top teams in the US. My coaches say that I’m a hard worker and lead by example. I also am good at taking coaching direction and quickly making adjustments.
While I’m greatly enjoying High School ball, I am also thinking ahead to the collegiate level. My goal is to play at as high a level as I can and still be an impact player. I’m very open to schools of different sizes, and while I would ideally like to attend school closer to home, I would go anywhere in the country for the right fit. Academically, I’m an excellent student with a GPA of 3.96 after 5 semesters. I’m particularly good at math and have marked math-based majors in my profile, but honestly, I’m not sure what I want to study at this time.
