Personal Statement

“He plays the ball as well as anyone we have had in my 23 years at this school… This kid is a winner in every sense of the word.”  Head Coach Joe Benson Scottsbluff High.

My high school career is over.  I prepared hard, played hard and will never forget the successes we achieved as a team.

I can now look forward to the next step; college football.  I am being recruited by most schools as an "athlete" although several coaches believe I would fit in well at defensive back.  I had 11 interceptions in my varsity years at Scottsbluff; 4 of them touchdowns.  I started at corner, safety, and outside linebacker.  We ran a very aggressive defense.  It seemed like I was either blitzing or matched up man-man with the opponents best receiver.  On offense, I ran a lot of crossing routes, zone option routes, a few screens and jet sweeps.  It seemed like many of my biggest offensive plays were on broken plays when I had to adjust to the quarterback scramble.

I grew over two inches between my junior and senior seasons and I have gained almost 10 lbs.  I am excited to find the right college program; a team that I can contribute to and learn from to become the best teammate and football player I can be.

I am already setting up official visits.  The process seems to be moving quickly.  I am eager to move forward.  This off-season I will be preparing for my last track season.  Our team won the State Championship last year.  I finished second in the 100 meters and our 4 x 100 won the gold.  I hope to help our team repeat this spring.

Top Teams Announced:  1.  Named all State DB in McCook Gazette; (2) All Western Conference (3) All District DB and Kick Return Specialist.

Summer Camp Summary

Camps Attended:  Tulsa,  Nebraska, Wyoming,  North Dakota State, and Iowa State, Colorado State, and Montana State.

College Visits:  South Dakota, Colorado State campus visit with coaching staff and attended game versus North Dakota State, Nebraska versus Arkansas State Game and I scheduled to attend the Michigan game, I am scheduled to attend the Wyoming versus Colorado State game in a couple of weeks.

Top 3 40 times:   4.40 Nebraska    4.44 Tulsa   4.45 Tulsa

Top 3 Agility Drill:  4.13 North Dakota State   4.18 Tulsa  4.19 Nebraska

Vertical Jump:  321/2" at Colorado State and 32” at Nebraska and Tulsa

I enjoyed all of the camps I attended.   We did not test at Montana State.  I wasn’t able to do much at the Wyoming camp after 3 days of camp at UNL and an 8 drive to Laramie my hamstrings were pretty tight.  Overall I learned a lot of valuable technique and I gained a lot of confidence based on how I matched up with other athletes from around the Country.

My 40 yard dash was the fastest  over-all at Nebraska's camp.  At the end of the camp they match up the fastest 40's for a "fastest man" contest and I won by about 2 yards.

This track season I finished 2nd in the State Meet in the 100 meter dash (class B) and ran a 10.91.  That was the second fastest time in all divisions for the class of 2013.  I beat a field that included 4 athletes that had ran in the 10.8's electronically.

I am very versatile.  I started at 4 positions last fall.  I believe I can play in the secondary, as a running back or a slot receiver in College.  I return Kicks and punts as well as cover on the kick and punt teams.  I blocked one punt and had a game winning kick return for a TD.  Teams consistently kicked away from me this season.   I was voted team captain as a junior and named All Region at Defensive Back.  I bench 365 lbs and squat 450 lbs while my power clean is 295.

Fun Facts About me and my family:  Since I was 8 years old my football teams have always made the playoffs or finished with a league leading record.   My sister runs track and XC at Florida State.  My mother and father hold the 100 and 200 meter dash records at my school.  My dad played football at the University of Nebraska in the 1980’s for Coach Osborne.
