Personal Statement

My name is Collin Weires. I am a Class of 2018 varsity kicker/punter triple threat from Basic Academy in Henderson, Nevada. Our team at Basic Academy (Previously called Basic High School) has made it to play offs for the past three years and we are currently ranked fifth in the state. I currently maintain a 3.8 weighted gpa and my core is 2.8. I earned a 20 on my ACTs and will be taking my SAT on August 26.

On the field, I am a consistent extrapoint kicker with excellent ball placement through the uprights. I consistently hit 55 yard field goals in practice. My longest attempt in game play was 43 yards, which I hit without difficulty. My kickoffs hit deep and my punting is improving as well. When my long snapper snaps a bad ball, I am quick to recover and still get the ball off successfully. My goal is to hit the ball with power, maintaining a balance of composure and urgency that allows for successful completion. I am by no means perfect, but I am committed and dedicated to becoming the best kicker I can be.

Outside of football I have been active in my school student council program as a representative and committee member. ALthough I fell short when running for an officer position, I have always been a leader in this program and someone my teacher can count on when she needs something. I also participated in orchestra in Middle School and Jazz Band in both Middle and High School. Although I no longer participate in either, my love for music continues and I love to compose lyrics. For the past three years I have participated in a Forensics program at my school that will lead to a certificate of Forensics when I graduate. I am interested in pursuing a career in forensic science, forensic psychology, or criminology as my chosen field.
