Personal Statement
Hi, My name is Mitch Moniz. I've been playing football for more than half my life. I was born in Vallejo, CA at Kaiser Hospital. I lived in Vallejo for 7 months then eventually moved to Vancouver, WA. I lived there for about 2 and a half year till I finally moved to a small town called Dixon.
It all started in a small town called Dixon just outside of Sacramento and Davis. My family (my mom and dad) moved to Dixon when I was 3 years old. We moved into a 3 bedroom 2 bath house only about 1.400 square feet. Yes it was a small house but a nice family home for all of us. My dad being a superintendent at Corey Delta Construction at the time was always doing house projects. First came the swimming pool then came the little brown shed and more and more until our little house was perfect. As a kid growing up I played 4 sports. First, Since you couldn't play football until you were 7 years old in Dixon, I played T-ball for my first sport. I won't ever forget the day that I received my first trophy it was the greatest day of my life. I also played soccer while the waiting was in process for football. Then Christmas of 2007 my dad got me my first football helmet my first football pads and a tackling dummy for the yard and a pee wee football. My dad always says I got my arm from him but it was really my mom who taught me how to throw the ball. I remember going to my first practice of football and crying every time I got hit. They had me playing free safety and not going to lie it was the worst time of my life. I wanted to be done with football forever but, my dad always told me to never give up on anything. I took the advice and powered my way through the season. I loved the sport. My second season came around and that's when the QB stage came around. Through that season I lead my team to the championship little league game and we won. Skipping ahead to about 13 years old I was in the 7th grade and at the time was playing Basketball for my middle school, Baseball for the town, and Football for the town. I trained hard for the season in any sport I played. In fact I remember going out in the summer time to the old high school with my dad who had bought all this equipment such as Agility bags, cones, sleds, hurdles, etc.. anything you could think of that would prepare an athlete for the football season, my dad bought it. We would go up there to the high school every night after he got off work around 5. I used to hate when my dad would yell and push me harder and harder when I was dripping sweat and couldn't breathe in the 100 degree weather. But now to this day I understand why he did all of it and its because he wants the best for me. Anyway back to the 7th grade I remember coming home in October after school one day and walking through the door to see my dad and mom discussing something serious. And right when I walked through the door they glared at me. I thought I was in some trouble but I wasn't. My dad told me to sit down an listen so, I did. He said "son I got a promotion opportunity to move out to Henderson, NV to work for a company called Brinderson, so what is your thoughts" I knew this was a big opportunity for my dad and he seemed happy about it so I decided to move and be okay with it. The thought of leaving my friends was hard but I knew I could make some new ones fast because I'm pretty social. My parents let me finish out my 7th grade year and in the summer we moved. Skipping through 8th grade I finally became a High School Student at Coronado. I had a great freshman year we had a record of 6-3 and after the season I got pulled up to varsity for playoffs which was a huge honor. Going into my sophomore year what I'm in right now we didn't have that great of a season. We went 5-4 and ran the ball the whole season. I stayed positive because that's what you have to do as a QB is stay positive and everyone else will follow you. I'm currently trying to transfer schools next year to Desert Oasis which runs a spread offense which is great for QBs.
This was a life story of me and what I have become over the years. Thank you for taking the time and reading about me and learning what ive gone through over the years.
Thanks, Mitch
Thanks for your time, Mitch
