Personal Statement
Football is a game of commitment and determination. Being a successful football player requiries both mental and physical toughness. Football is not for everyone to play and not everyone can play. To play you have to endure pain like you're not use to feeling when playing other sports. I've played football since I was six years old and I've loved every ache, pain, and hit of those years. I've always dreamed about playing at the collegiate level. What most players of the game forget is, how important their grades are. That's why I strive to achieve both on and off the field.
While playing through the years, many coaches have referred to me as a "coach on the field" or as a "student of the game". This is because I understood what was happening, make corrections if necessary and reacted appropriately. I also helped out the new players teaching them the basics of the game. I consider myself to be fairly humble about my abilities and make it a point to never over-step a coach. I am also not afraid to speak up if someone is doing something wrong. And I'm not afraid to take charge even as "it hits the fan." I love the game of football not just for the memories that you make, but those unbreakable bonds with life long friends.
Grades are a whole other thing. My parents have always impressed upon me the importance of good grades. One thing I always do is work hard in the classroom and give it my all. My grades reflect my work ethic. Hard work is the best way to prepare myself for the future. I firmly believe that grades not only show just how smart you are, but how hard you're willing to work to succeed. I never try to short cut things on or off the field. I always finish what I start. And I always give one hundred percent.
In my free time, I help out with the local youth football teams. Whether it be with the 7th & 8th Graders or the 3rd & 4th Graders, I'm always willing to help out, run drills, lead excercises, etc...
I'm not afraid to step up and admit that I was wrong about something because I believe that's how you learn and get better. I'm very coachable and a very hard worker both on and off the field. I also like to go to my team's football field and put extra work in to make sure I do things perfectly. I'm a quick learner with an itch to get into the heat of the action. I've also played most positions on the field.
Again, playing football at the collegiate level would be a dream come true. Working hard, doing my best, and being successful on and off the field is something I always strive for.
