Personal Statement
My name is Andrew Caruso. I am 6' 2", 280 lb., class of 2018 Defensive Tackle for Pittsford Mendon High School in Rochester, New York. The 2017 season, will commence my third season playing at the varsity level for the Pittsford Panthers. I've been playing organized football since I was 10 years of age. My most memorable game was during my sophomore year in 2015, I had 3 sacks, one forced fumble, and 5 tackles for loss, with a total of 14 tackles. I also volunteer regularly by teaching the fundamentals of football to young players, grades K-5 for Big Cats Youth Football. Throughout my varsity career, I have received All-County in 2015 and 2016, selected for All Greater Rochester (AGR), and All-State Honorable Mention in 2016.
Thanks to my coaches and family, I have learned to be a servant leader to others, on and off the field. I pride myself on my integrity and perseverance. Since I was asked to join the varsity team, I have made a concerted effort to admire and respect the humble leadership of our upper-classman. Now, I am a mentor and captain to the younger-classman, leading by example. From an early age, my parents and siblings helped me better understand that to excel in life, you must remain focused, no matter the circumstances. When life becomes harder, you must work even harder to achieve your goals. As a team captain, it is now my job to teach my brothers to never give up, keeping the end goal in mind at all times. This mentality has propelled me to be a next generation Pittsford Panthers’ football player. After high school is over, I want to continue to be a part of a team, working towards a common goal, and establishing new relationships. I plan to major in psychology and criminal justice, and ultimately work towards joining the Federal Bureau of Investigators (FBI) to further serve my community and protect our nation.
