Personal Statement

I am a 6’ 180lb high school junior football player whose aspiration and goal is to play college football. I chose football player vice choosing a specific position due to the fact that I love the game and feel that I can, and am willing, to play at multiple positions. Last season my coaches chose to play me on Varsity at OLB and DE with no prior defensive experience and even though I was outsized on most days by 50-75lbs I had 16 sacks, 42 tackles and 5 forced fumbles. I am quick and fast, strong and powerful, determined, am a quick learner, and I am committed to doing what it takes to improve my game at every level.

My goal for my senior year in football is to be the starting running back for my team at 190lbs, and to combine my speed, strength, and power to be a dominating offensive and defensive player. I can run, I can catch, I can hit, and it is difficult to say which gives me the greatest pleasure, scoring touchdowns or sacking quarterbacks.

Academics are a very large aspect of my life and I have always worked hard to achieve high academic standards. Currently I have an unweighted GPA of 3.58 but am ranked 7th in my graduating class due to taking honors courses in all the core subjects along with AP Physics. I am also an active member of the national honors society. My main interests include computer science, physics, sports medicine, and engineering and I am looking for a university or college that will challenge me academically and provide me an education that enriches my life and enhances my post-graduate opportunities.

Leadership is also a very large aspect of my life, one that has shaped my morals and created the person who I am today. My father is a retired Marine Corps officer, and has instilled traits of respect and leadership into me ever since I was a young child. I have been selected to be the Co-Captain for the 2016 football season and I look forward to inspiring and motivating my team towards a Division I State Title. I believe the qualities and characteristics I possess are well suited to meet the rigorous, diverse, and challenging demands placed on today’s higher education students and will enrich the academic, cultural, and athletic environment of any university or college.
