Personal Statement

Hello, I am Jake Barr. I attend Haddon Heights High School in Haddon Heights, New Jersey. For me, Football is just not a sport, it's a life style. I love everything having to do with football. Whether it be talking, playing, or watching it on T.V. I started from a very young age and have just wanted to improve every time I step on the field. I go as hard as I can 100% of the time and don't stop until i complete a task that has been given to me.
From a lot of coaches that i have played for or talked to, they have all told me that I am a very coachable kid. Whatever a coach tells me, I always try to implement it into my game or listen to and use it for the future. The coach knows best, and if he tells me that I need to do something different ( A move or different position) I will go do that as long as it helps the team.
Not only are sports important to me, but also my grades. I have always been told that grades come before anything else. So being on sports teams I have to always allot time to do the work I have. I get pretty good grades, but in order to get the good grades I need to work for them, just like you need to work on the field and weight room. The only way to get better at something is repetition, and from all my experiences so far, repetition pays off.
Leadership is one of my main qualities too. I like to lead by example. Whenever I can, I always try to pick people up and let them know that even though they did something wrong, they can make it up again the next play. I want everyone to get better, and that's why being a leader, to me, is so important.
I always just want to get better, and that's my goal everyday. You need to work to get to high places, it just doesn't get there on its own. I love football, and just everyday want to get better at it so one day I can get to that higher place I always look for.
