Personal Statement
I am junior offensive and defensive lineman at perennial NJ state champ, St Joes Hammonton, Hammonton NJ. During my freshman season at St. Joes, the 2012 season, I started offensive and defensive tackle on St Joes undefeated, 10-0, freshman team. During that season, our closest margin of victory was 26 points.
Last year, my sophomore season, I beat out a senior to win the varsity starting center position for the 11-1, New Jersey Non-Public State Champ 2013 St Joe Wildcats. Following the season, I received All-Conference and All-Atlantic City Press honors. I also received invites to several nationally recognized camps/combines, attending the invitational NUC Elite 5 Star, Rivals and Nike's NFTC camps during March and April 2014. Following the Rival's camp, I received post-camp recognition by a Rivals writer in a published article, which can be found at https://footballrecruiting.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=1631612. In each of those camps, I matched up against and beat multiple FBS offerees in one on ones, the most of whom were a year older (Class of 2015).
I have worked extremely hard this off-season in the weight room and with agilities. I work out 3 days a week with my team and two more days a week with an ex-NFL and Canadian Football player-personal trainer on core work and agilities. As a result of this work, I have added over 30 lbs of good body weight from my end of season playing weight of 238 (as seen in the film linked in my profile), and currently weigh 272 lbs. At 6'3 3/4", 272 lbs, I believe that I should be able to reach a good playing weight of 300 lbs or more by the time I graduate.
As a football player, I believe my best attributes is my football IQ and my technical skills. I am a student of the game, and watch film all the time, whether its available film of a player that I will be playing during the year, or just of lineman who I think are good players, I am always trying to learn and to get better. I firmly believe that one of a lineman's best tools is his brain; and I pride myself in my ability to outsmart an opponent.
My college goal is to play center at an FBS or FCS school, and get on the field as early as possible. With continued hard work in the class room, in the weight room and in the gym, and on the field, I firmly believe that I can play college football at the highest levels and earn a scholarship.
On the academic side, I want to attend a top notch academic institution. As you can see from my profile, my academic credentials are very good. Through my 3rd marking period of my sophomore year, I have a GPA of almost 3.9 and a weighted GPA of over 4.1 out of 4.0. I am also a member of student government and was recently elected Junior Class President for the 2014/2015 school year.
While I haven't quite settled in on what I want to major in or engage in as a profession, I am thinking about either engineering or law. I am also very much open to attending an academy of some kind and perhaps making a career as a military officer after graduation.
Please feel free to call, text email me if you have any questions.
I appreciate your interest in me as a student/athlete.
