Personal Statement
Alexander Beards—Getting Better Every Day… My name is Alexander Beards; and my goal is to get better every day. I believe that I can do something to improve my skills, ability, and knowledge of the game every day. I want to excel at whatever I do, whether it’s sports or academics. About My Sports: I have played football and baseball all my life; and football is in the family blood. My mother ran track, my father played at the University of Iowa; and my uncle played at the University of Texas El Paso. My godfather is former New York Giants great George Martin. Hall of Famer Harry Carson is teaching me the linebacker position. My sister, who is also an excellent athlete, is playing softball at the University of Maryland; and she is presently in her senior year. Candice was a High School Under Armor All-American and last year made the NFCA All-Region First Team as a sophomore. We have a very talented family, but I will pass them all. Last year was my first full year at the LB position and I am really enjoying the challenge. I know I will continue to get better and better. My goal is to be the best LB and/or RB in the state. I work hard to be one of those athletes. I have played running back all my life and expect to play that position at the next level, but don't get me wrong I will play where the team needs me to play. I will do whatever it takes to play the game and continue to be a winner: Work hard to better my skills by listening to my coaches and trainers, My godfather is Super Bowl winner George Martin who is a great mentor and teacher to the game. I have learned a lot with this being my last HS year. My father's job transferred him to Chicago and my mom and I will remind here to finish what I have started. I will continue to lift to get stronger and run speed drills to continue to get faster. I study the game and would love to coach after I retire from the pros. About My Education: I have always been a great student in the classroom. My GPA is always between 3.0 – 3.5 and I scored a 22 on the ACT. I know I can do better and will take both the ACT's and SAT's every opportunity I get to get the score I know I can get.
