Personal Statement
Yesterday, I was an eight year old kid playing football with the Brooklyn Skyhawks. I was new to the game, but quickly developed a keen interest and passion for the sport. I have always been active in sports and have competed in basketball, soccer, track, and baseball. Now at seventeen years of age , I am mentally tough, physically strong and committed to playing football in college.
I have had the unique opportunity to play with championship teams and to experience the “agony of defeat”. Through all the highs and lows, I remain focused and determined. There have been disappointments on and off the field, however I have persevered. I have had the opportunity and ability to play both sides of the ball and am a student of the game.
My mother has raised me as a single parent, since my father died in 2009. She has encouraged me to strive for excellence in everything I do. I will graduate from The Pennington School with a high school diploma and a Certificate in Global Studies. Although I struggled with Spanish my freshmen year, I have embraced the opportunity to volunteer with Outreach360. The opportunity to teach english to spanish speaking students in the Dominican Republic for the past two years, has been rewarding and I am looking forward to returning in the spring.
In college I look forward to studying Criminal Justice, Forensic Science and International and Global Studies in preparation for a career in the FBI, CIA or National Security.
I have learned valuable life lessons through my participation in a team sport like football. I continue to develop as a leader by serving as Captain of the Varsity Football team and a Dorm Prefect. I am passionate about my ability to play football at the next level, however I also have embraced the opportunities to serve the Pennington Community. I play the double bass in the orchestra. As a global citizen, I have served as a student delegate to the International Student Summit. I embrace the challenge to succeed in college as a student athlete and made the decision to compete as a PG student at Blair Academy. My journey continues...
