I hope that as I approach college I can continue to fulfill the promise of my favorite quote,"To whom much is given, much is expected". I am fortunate to be the starting center for the Pope John Lions in Sparta, N.J . where I play with a great group of guys and learn from dedicated coaches while receiving a top- notch education. Responsibly and respectfully maximizing every opportunity I have been offered has been the decisive factor in who I am as a student, an athlete and a person. As I enter my junior year I am looking for a university setting that will afford me the same chance to work hard on and off the field and demonstrate that I am all about understanding and shouldering responsibility, respecting those who assign responsibilities to me and respecting my God -given abilities in order to achieve all my goals as a student, an athlete and perhaps most important-as a man. As a student I have a 4.4 GPA and take an overload schedule of all AP and honors classes with 2 advanced languages(German IV and Japanese II and I am a member of the German National Honor Society). I was honored to be selected to represent Pope John XXIII high school at the Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership seminar for outstanding sophomores nationwide. I was also selected by my teammates to represent them on our Leadership Council which acts as a liason body between the team and coaching staff. In the 10 years I have been playing football since my flag days in 1st grade I have tried in my "first on the field last off " to be respectful of my responsibilities to my teammates and my coaches-always playing where needed whenever needed. While I was honored by my All Conference Selection and being named one of the New Jersey Herald Football round Up Player of the Week I was most honored that people have confidence in me to responsibly lead and represent them. I hope to continue to responsibly contribute and lead in college football and college life. I feel it is important for players to be active in their school and community beyond footbalI . I throw shot in winter and spring track and won the New Jersey State Catholic soph/frosh title this year. I also am a member of the jazz and symphonic band(trombone). My most significant time commitment in high school is to the drama program-a football tradition at my school and have performed in several musicals and dramas including The Odd Couple(Murray the Cop) and Hairspray. I was just voted by my castmates as a member of the Executive staff. I want to go on to law school and use my legal degree as a sports agent or general counsel and become involved in politics. I know I will continue to serve my community-I come by that honestly. My hero and example is my sister who will commission in May as a 2nd lieutenant in the United States Army. I have been given great parents and a great sister who support me in all that I do and encourage me to always live up to my responsibilities and achieve the great expectations I have for myself.
