Dear Coach,
Hello, my name is Andrew "Drew" Ortiz and I attend St. Pius High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I am number nine (#9) on our Varsity Football Team. I will be a senior this year and graduate the Class of 2017. I am 5 foot 11 inches and I weigh 190 pounds. My bench max is 265 lbs, my clean max is 225 lbs, and my squat max is 360 lbs. My 40 time is a 4.5 sec, shuttle is a 4.27 sec, and my broad jump is 9.2 ft.
My continued hard work and leadership skills on the field, in the weight room, and in the class room earns me a lot of respect from my coaches, teammates, and peers. Coaches call me "the dual-threat", well known for throwing far distances and running the ball as a Quarterback. I have speed and great knowledge of the game. Love and true passion for football comes naturally to me since I was a very young boy.
This past season, which is my junior year, I threw for 2500 yards, ran for 1500 yards, made 47 touchdowns, threw 30 touchdowns as starting Quarterback. I was awarded a letter for making the Varsity team as a junior, award for Captain of the team, received an award for re-breaking the schools records for the most touchdowns scored, most passing touchdowns, and most passing yards. My awards were 1st team All-District, District Player of the Year, 1st team All-Metro, and 1st team All-State.
My sophomore year, I threw for 2200 yards, ran for 1200, and had 45 touchdowns. I was awarded a letter for making the Varsity team as a sophomore, started in the Quarterback position, breaking 3 school records and my awards were 1st Team All Metro, 1st Team All District, Offensive Player of the Year, District Player of the Year and 2nd Team All State.
My freshman year, I was awarded a letter for making the Varsity team as a freshman, led the team in most tackles and was received Second Team All-District.
I currently maintain a 3.1 Cumulative GPA. I was appointed and currently serve on the Mayor of Albuquerque's Youth Advisory Council. I volunteer and participate in as many community projects and several of Mayor's initiatives to help and give back to my community.
As a dedicated athlete and student, college would give me the opportunity to thrive, contribute, and grow in all facets of collegiate life, personally, athletically and academically.
I work hard, I'm focused, driven, motivated and eager to succeed. I'm hungry for an opportunity to play at a much higher caliber and to be a successful college football player.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and I look forward to speaking with you real soon.
Best regards,
Andrew "Drew" Ortiz
