Personal Statement
I am an ROTC Army cadet and Starting Kicker for Valley Forge Military College (JC), and I will be available for transfer in Fall 2019. I am looking for a four year college to complete my degree in Biology. I also want the opportunity to work/train to my full potential as an athlete.
My college team, VFMC, just won their fourth consecutive NJCAA Region 19 Conference Championship (2017), and I was selected as Player of the Week the final week of the season. Prior to VFMC, I was the starting Kicker for Lafayette High School. As starting Kicker, I significantly contributed to LHS wrapping up it's third straight unbeaten district campaign, 30-0, and a combined record of 47-5. LHS was ranked 8th in state my senior year. I put over 40 points on the scoreboard, my senior year of high school, in PATs alone. I also had the privilege of being the starting Kicker for VHSL 2014 state championship and my team finished the season as #2 in the state (4A).
My SAT scores were 1430 (3 part) and 1000 (2 part). I currently have a 3.65 GPA on a college 4.0 scale and I am working hard to maintain that GPA. I have been promoted five ranks to Staff Sargent and Team Leader within one semester of attending VFMC. I was also selected as Cadet of the Month during my first semester of college. I participate in equestrian sports as well. I am a member of VFMC's Cavalry and I compete in intercollegiate horse shows.
I have played football for 13 years and have played every position on the defensive and offensive lines, including QB and LS. I have been a starting kicker for 5 years. I have trained with a professional kicking coach for four years. My long is 55 yards for FGs with a tee, and 52 yards without tee, and I kick off 50 to 65 yards/punt up to 60 yards. I was a high school starter for three years, and a college starter for one year. I was ranked 8th for 2016 class in punting at 2015 NCS NATIONAL Kicking Combine Super Camp. I have video on HUDL.com. I competed in several National Camp Series competitions, and won or placed many times. My first NCS Camp left me in good standing, placing third against two senior kickers with multiple scholarship offers, with a 55 yard FG. This was after only three months of professional training. Ranked 4th for punting (2016) at Oregon summer camp and 3rd for punting (2016) at Purdue summer camp.
If you should have specialist openings for Fall 2019, I hope you will consider me for your team. Thank you, Grant Horne
