Personal Statement
I am a 5'10", 185 lb. running back in my Senior year at Union Endicott High School in Endicott, New York. I play football and have been a 3 year starter on our Varsity Wrestling team. Last year, after our first game, I had a season ending injury where I broke my tibia and dislocated my ankle. I had surgery and within two weeks, I was back in the weight room in a limited capacity. Even though my season was over, I worked as hard as I could and was able to wrestle and win one match. I continued on to run track to prepare for football and get my body used to running again and I am proud to say I am back playing again and at the top of the standings in our section for rushing. My parents have always taught me if I work hard, I will reap the benefits of my dedication and this year has helped me realize this. Now that my season is over, I have broken the school records for rushing yards in a season as well as for points earned in a season. I also broke the school record for weight lifting which included benching 172lbs over my body weight and also squatting 330 over my body weight.
I am currently a student internship at our local Jr. High school in the math department. I am also preparing to tutor an 8th grade student-athlete who has asked for me specifically. I also volunteer to help out our local youth football league and I have helped with our local youth baseball league as well.
Coaches enjoy working with me because of my versatility, speed, and strength. My greatest strength is at running back because I have a good awareness and great visibility of the field. I am a work horse on the field and my high school stats support my statements. My goal is to play at the Division I level with a team that will allow me to contribute to their success. I am a very confident player on the field, I know how to read defenses, I know how to finish plays, and I know how to help a team win. I would love to go to a school that will help me in my venture to become a special education teacher but will also allow me to excel on the football field. Coaches who choose me will get a hard working person who leads by example.
