Personal Statement

Dear Coaches, Hi my name is Rod Stevens, I am a 6-1, 230 pound student-athlete. I attend Erie Community College a JUCO in Buffalo, NY. I was originally born in Asheville, North Carolina and from there lived in Columbus, Ohio; Charlotte, North Carolina, and now Western New York. With that being said location is not a big issue with me as I've moved around before and have had the privilege to play football in three different states leading up to my college career. During my High School career, I was a three year starter on varsity, two-time all-county, team captain, powerlifting champion among many other accomplishments. My senior year I was awarded the team's most valuable defensive lineman award, and my sophomore year I was awarded the team's "Most Improved Player" award. Also, I was invited to the National Underclassmen Ultimate 100 as one of the top 100 prospects in the Northeast. I was also invited to the Northeast Five Star Showdown as one of the top 150 prospects in the Northeast, also to the Junior Rank National High School Elite Showcase as one the top 50 seniors in the country without an offer or low on the radar. I was also invited to Football University's Top Gun as one of the top Defensive End's in the country following my perfermance at a Football University football camp. Following my high school career, I accepted a scholarship to attend FCS Division 1-AA Saint Francis University in Pennsylvania to play the Outside Linebacker/Defensive End hybrid position in their 3-4 scheme. I redshirted my freshman season there in 2011 and after one semester decided to transfer to Junior College. Now at Erie Community College I am playing Inside Linebacker and I am on track to receive my associates degree in May of 2013. With that I have the option to transfer to a four year school as soon as May with three years of eligibility remaining or I can play another year of junior college and transfer in January 2014 with two years of eligibility remaining. I believe that I can be a strong asset to your University both on and off the field if given the oppurtunity with my qualities as a leader, a football player, but most importantly as a person of great character. I sincerely thank you for your time and interest and I look foward to speaking with you. Thanks, Rod Stevens
