Personal Statement
I believe "will" makes me unique. The will for me is to do the best I can on the field and in the classroom. Without an education, football wouldn’t mean a thing. I hear about a lot of great potential athletes who could’ve gone to Division I schools, but an injury damaged their careers and they couldn’t play football anymore. Their lives are most likely ruined because they didn’t take school seriously. I want to have the best education possible just in case I can’t continue with sports. So, my will is to be the best player I can be on the field and the best student I can be in the classroom. This has been my attitude my whole life and I strive to make it real. I am a head captain in football and that's great, but I am also a high honor roll student and ranked the top 10% in my graduating class. Despite my disabilities, I still take a couple AP classes and aced all my New York State regents exams. I am also a Staff Sergeant in my school's Marine Corps JROTC, I'm a 4-year member of the school's PTSA, served two years on the executive board for my Jack and Jill of America, Inc. chapter, and an avid youth ministry member.
What I enjoy most about football is the competitiveness among players, coaches and opponents. It is enjoyable to know that football can be similar and different at the same time. For example, your opponent does not wear the same colors, call the same plays or may not even see your face ever again after the game. But the one thing you and your opponent have in common is that you are both playing football. The basic rules and principles of the game still apply for everyone on the field. You hit hard when hitting, you wrap when tackling, you block without holding and you win without bragging. This is why I want to continue, if possible, to play at the college level!
