Personal Statement
I am a 6'3, 230 pound linebacker from Northwest High School in Canal Fulton, Ohio. I started varsity at linebacker my sophomore year, having just turned 15. I finished the season third overall in productivity for my team. I am young for my graduating class as I will graduate high school at the age of 17.
This summer I attended several NUC combines and I won the linebacker MVP award at every camp I attended, including the 5 Star Showcase for Elite Juniors from the Midwest U.S. I was invited to play in their North vs South game, asked to be a member of their team representing the Midwest US and was also invited to play in their Texas vs the World game. I attended a local National Underclassman Combine (NUC) last spring, where I received awards for strongest sophomore and leadership, a write up and an invite to their Ultimate 100 regional combine in Indianapolis, IN on June 29, 2013. Upon participation in the regional combine, I was invited to attend the development camp located at the University of Oklahoma for elite prospects and was also invited to participate in their North vs. South game week in Myrtle Beach, SC in December 2013. I am a hard worker. Throughout the year I train with 2 personal trainers, at two different training centers, in addition to completing all of my required training for my team. I am the first one on the field and the last one to leave. My father is a member of the youth football board and a youth football coach and when I am able, I attend his practices where I help mentor and coach the youth football players in my community.
I am looking for an institution where I can find the right balance between the classroom and the field. I would like to attend a university with an excellent reputation where I can pursue a career in education. I am interested in teaching English, History or Government. I would also like to coach in the future. The opportunity to play football at the collegiate level would be a dream come true for me. I feel so passionately about football that I cannot imagine a time in my life where I will not be playing or active with football and athletics in some way. For this reason, I am hoping to pursue a career that will allow me to work with sports and athletes when my football career is over.
