Devon Richard '16 Recruiting Profile

At this time in my life, my ultimate goal is to play football at the next level.  Thinking that in 6 games may be the last time I play football is devastating.  I realize that academics has not always been my strong suit, but am working and giving it my all to make changes to succeed in academics as well as on the field.  My dream is to major in communications or athletic training to continue with sports being a part of my life and my future career aspirations.  I have the drive and determination that you will not find in other recruits.  An example of my determination, as in every sport I compete in, was during my junior year of wrestling.  In my second match, during Ohio District State Qualifier, I broke my wrist.  I continued to wrestle the next 2 periods and won this match.  I continued to compete and took fourth.  I refused to quit and lose my dream of placing higher at state during my junior year.  Against my parents good judgment, I went on to compete at the state level.  I placed 6th at state this year and then 2 days later went to the doctor to be casted.  This is one example of my unwillingness to quit and determination to reach my goals.  Football is also a team sport and I strive to motivate my fellow players to succeed and be the best on and off the field.  I listen to the coach's critiques and pointers and work to change my game and tweak where needed.  Furthering my education is extremely important to me and as it has not always been my major focus, I have come to realize that is the most important goal to achieve my dreams.   As a potential recruit I promise to give it 120% in the classroom, in the weight room, and on the field.  I will strive to be the best and promise to not disappoint.
