Personal Statement
I have started my senior year, which is exciting, and I am looking forward to all of the great experiences my senior year will offer. I have worked extremely hard during the off-season. Since my football season ended last November I have gained 38 pounds of muscle mass. I have continued to work with my strength trainer and have attended all required football conditioning and practices during the summer.
The last 2 years my main role on my football team has been running back. This year due to my size and my versatility I have been moved to the H back. This allows me to run the ball, block, and catch the ball. It is in a way a tight end and fullback hybrid. I am also in on punt team. This is the role that my coach feels I can be most successful to our team. Our goal is to make it back to the Final Four State Playoffs. This year Olentangy High School has been moved up to Division 1. While I have increased my muscle mass I was still able to run a 4.6 in my shuttle drills and a 4.9 in the 40 yard dash in several camps that I attended.
My football team for 3 days in July completed what we call "Dog Soldiers." Dog Soldiers as you can guess are difficult physical and mental tasks that focus on team building and team bonding. This year we had the opportunity to go to Camp Sherman in Chillicothe for an amazing day. If you would like to see what our team accomplished I am attaching the link: http://md.me/7BGp.
Academically my goal is to have a strong senior year and avoid "senioritis" and continue to work hard. In addition to my core classes I am taking a positive leadership class and a class in criminal justice. My career aspirations lie in the Criminal Justice/National Security area. I did take the ACT in June and am scheduled to retake the ACT in December. I was elected for the 2nd year in a row to be a BKOM. This is our Braves Kickoff Mentor program to help transition new freshman into our high school. I really enjoy this leadership opportunity.
Olentangy High School has partnered with Storied Rivals to film our games weekly. Storied Rivals offers a team a team highlight video that features a combination of game footage, behind the scenes, player and coach commentary, including a senior segment with individual interviews edited with a music soundtrack. The link is www.storiedrivals.com. I will update my video as the season progresses.
I am looking for a college football program that will continue to challenge me and to further develop me as am athlete and as a student. Through my football experience, I have learned to work hard both on and off the field, be willing to learn and lead by example, I believe I have the physical skills, the work ethic, a positive personality and strong leadership ability to make an impact on your program both athletically and academically. The following is a quote that I believe in. "A single twig will break but a bundle remains strong." I want to be a part of a bundle that wins both on and off the field.
