Personal Statement

When I was in fifth grade I decided to stop playing soccer and focus my time on playing football.  I loved watching the Green Bay Packers and wanted to be the next Brett Favre.  I won the starting job as quarterback in middle school and since then haven’t played another position. Throughout my football career, I’ve continued to learn the quarterback position and quickly learned how to be a leader.  I’ve learned that it takes a combination of hard work, dedication and consistency in performance to have my teammates consider me their leader.   I’ve also learned that things don’t always go according to plan and that sometimes you have to take criticism from teammates, coaches and even fans (and parents, of course!).   But I know that on all occasions I can learn from those situations and take positive steps to improve.

I strongly believe that as a football player academics are very important to be successful. I take school very seriously, as shown in my current 4.0 GPA and 29 ACT score.  School helps me learn about a variety of topics and issues, and the learning process translates onto the football field.  As a quarterback you’re expected to know all the details of every offensive play, and also identify defensive coverage schemes in a matter of seconds.   I push myself to learn something every day, including every time I take the field.

People close to me know me as a person of great character. I can be a funny and joking person, but when a game or practice starts, I know how to focus quickly and become serious and competitive.  People know that I work hard to improve, and that they can rely on me to do my job.   I continue to work very hard in the weight room with my teammates, and I also put in extra time with a personal trainer and quarterback coach to get stronger and improve my skills.   I’m willing to push myself to achieve my goals.   And I trust that my faith and family will be a big source of strength throughout my life.

I’m passionate about playing football and have a goal to play collegiate football at the highest level possible.  I’ve been able to perform well in pressure situations on the football field, and expect that to continue in the future. I know I have more to learn, and am dedicated to improving myself in all aspects of my abilities.    I look forward to the recruiting process, including talking to coaches, players and other advisors on how I can help a collegiate football program succeed.

The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
