Personal Statement
I have been playing football since the second grade, and I have not looked back since putting on those pads for the first time. I have been playing for ten years now, and I have done things that some players would dream of doing and I am so grateful for everything.
I wholeheartedly believe that there is more to football than just stepping on to a field and playing the game. I love football because of the comradery that it brings. When I step on to a field with people that I enjoy being around and I pour out blood, sweat, and tears with, there is not a better feeling in the world (besides winning with them).
My goal as a collegiate athlete is to not only help my team win however I need to help, but I want to be a leader and a mentor in doing so. When my times comes, I want to be the person my team mates look to in a time of need. I believe a leader is someone who does what is asked of them (and more) without expecting a reward and without expecting to be noticed. I want to eventually be a mentor to players not just in the aspect of football, but life itself. I want to give back what the game has been giving me for so long by fifty-fold.
What makes me different from any athlete is the drive and the energy I bring. I go at 110 miles per hour with everything I do, whether it be football, the classroom, or life in general, I am all in to whatever I commit to. I am very driven by my faith and my morals that I have been taught. If a decision I have to make requires me to go against what I believe, I will go with the Lord every time. When I go to college, I plan on being a educator or if it all possible, a minister.
Another thing that makes me different from other athletes is my versatility on the field. Through out my middle and high school career, at one point I played every position on offense and every position on defense. My junior year I played Corner (Starting Corner), Safety, Inside Linebacker, Outside Linebacker, and Defensive Line. On offense I was a Wideout (Starting), Tight-End (Starting), I practiced on the O-Line, and I was an emergency QB. To say the least, I played Iron-man Football.
