Personal Statement

My physical and educational growth as a student athlete exists on two tracks which run in the same direction together and cannot be separated from my development to achieve success. One track is a strong desire to excel as a student achieving the highest grades and meeting all course objectives. The other track running along with that is to achieve equally as well as an athlete with pure excellence in my performance. ccntributing to the goals and values of the team, and the image of the college with football as my primary sport. I am currently a senior in the Class of 2010 and a Cadet Sergeant Squad Leader in the Cadet Corps at Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pennsylvania. I am also Captain of the Academy Varsity Football Team. This year, I was selected Most Valuable Player while playing the positions of linebacker and running back. My personal statistics are: height, six feet one inch (6'1"); weight, two hundred twenty five pounds (225 lbs.); my speed in the 40 yard sprint is four point six seconds (4.6). I participate in weight training and conditioning exercises consistently. My most important achievements are: being accepted for enrollment at Valley Forge Military Academy, passing the Academy Plebe System requirements which was six weeks of intensive basic military and academic education and training, being promoted to Cadet Sergeant and Squad Leader in the Cadet Corps, selected Captain of the Academy Varsity football team, learning good organizational skills, managing my time, progressing academically to Honor status in my studies, and growing to fully appreciate the great educational and multicultural experience that I am getting at Valley Forge Military Academy. I can offer any future team a true one hundred percent, plus, effort through hard work, individual discipline, athletic skill, leadership ability, and academic maturity. I am always focused on my coach's expectations and responding to the direction of the team. I learned, as the Captain, to help keep my team mates focused on the responsibilities and assignments during preparation and in the games. It is truly my dream to play college football on a level where my skills will fit. I want to be in a college environment where I can continue to achieve academically, finish with a college degree and contribute to the success of a varsity football program. Both achievements can be part of my development for a competitive work world. I am open to attending college anywhere in the country where my skills would be a good match for a team's image, values of the college, and the opportunity to consistently perform as a solid student athlete. I have not fully decided on a college major but I am leaning toward studies in the law enforcement and security field. I realize that security management is one of the fastest growing professions in the world with professional opportunities, after the right level of education, from the national level to the local level and even in the business world. My goals, which I believe to be realistic, are: o to be accepted in a college environment as a student athlete o to graduate with a college degree o to earn a position and contribute to the goals and values of the varsity football team and o to participate in campus and community life that contributes to the development of a leader for the real world. My family consists of my parents and two siblings. Because of my parents' income levels, I will need financial assistance in order to pursue my goals.
