Personal Statement
I am a 6’4” 240-pound OT and DT from Indiana, PA (WPIAL). I have played football since I was six years old, and I now play on our high school team where I am a two-year starter on both offense and defense. I am on the team’s Unity Council (leadership group), elected team captain, and earned honorable mention on the 2016 WPIAL All-Section team. I have a GPA of 4.02, an ACT score of 26, and an SAT score of 1310. I am a member of our high school Key Club Executive Board (community service club and part of the Rotary club) and the National Honor Society. Finally, I have been selected as the Optimist International Boy of the Month for October of 2017.
I have a passion for excelling at both football and in the classroom. I work year-round to improve my strength, speed, and size (including 6 a.m. workouts all summer). This past summer I took an online college English composition course and earned an A. I hope to attend a college or university with an outstanding academic reputation for biological/pre-med studies and where I can play football at the highest level of competition possible. Like any player, I would like to play as soon as possible, but I will play whenever the coaches deem me ready and at whatever position they think I can help the team. I will do whatever is needed for me to be an asset to a rising program or to continuing the fine tradition already built.
My teachers have said that I am a dedicated and intelligent student, and my coaches have said that I am a team player and a very coachable player. I hope to take these qualities to an institution where I can be an asset to the football program and to the university as a whole. Playing football in college and earning a degree from a highly esteemed school is a once in a lifetime and life altering opportunity that I have dreamed of for a number of years. Given the chance, I hope to be able to realize both of these goals and in doing so to be a worthy representative of my college, a role model to my peers and younger kids, and to make my parents and family proud.
