Personal Statement

I play 110% every down in games and at practice. I never let an injury take me away from the season and, if possible, I play with injuries. I am 6'6" 295 pounds and I play with a purpose on the field. Three seasons ago, at the last game in junior varisty, I broke a bone in my arm and did not realize it and kept playing. The next season, just before the first game, I got it x-rayed and was told of the break and that I needed surgery. Two seasons ago I lost playing time for most of the season that year. I came back to finish that season when it healed and I played with a cast.

Last season as a junior, I played every game both ways -- and I didn't miss a game for any reason. I was a leader on both sides of the line.  I was selected captain after the junior season, for the next season. I committed to off-season training for speed, agility and weight training, 5 days per week. My best 40 yeard dash is 5.1. I want to get it below 5 with more training if possible. I started serious weight training in December after my junior season, at Aspiring Champions Inc. in PA. I am seeing the benefits in my strength and my explosion. I expect to get much stronger. My goal is to play Division 1 football at a school with solid academics, and I am very eager to make this a reality. I want to go to a respectable program where I can make an early impact as a player. As of now, I do not have a major preference in what type of schools I am interested in, in terms of location or academic programs.

I have been working hard this past year to boost my GPA, after I learned last summer I had a learning disability, and was diagnosed with ADHD and I finally realized what I needed to do to get better grades.  I transfered out of St. Joe's Prep to get more help.  I was so focused to do it that I actually repeated my junior year academically to make up for what I lost before learning I had ADHD.  That was the best decision I ever made.  I am now well on track to correcting my academics. For this past year, I boosted my GPA for this school year to a 4.0 (90.6 for this past year on my most recent transcript, attached, which translates to a 4.0).  I am targeting to continue improving this senior year at The Hill School, in an environment with smaller classrooms and focused, high level academics, which is the best kind of environment for me to catch up academically before college according to the advice of counselors.  I want to keep boosting my overall GPA higher, in order to compensate for the earlier yeasrs and to get my GPA overall at 3.0. My most recent transcript is attached to my profile, which shows my improvement this past year after learning that I have ADHD and learning how to deal with it academically.

In February, I competed at the MD High Elite Lineman showcase at University of Maryland on 2/12/11, and I was ranked as the No. 3 top offensive lineman at the camp. I then competed at the New Level Badger Sport Elite Lineman Challenge at Rutgers on 2/19-20 2011, and was ranked by Scout.com as the No. 4 top offensive lineman. I attended the NUC Five-Star Showcase in Oakland NJ on 3/12/11 and have been invited to the NUC Ultimate 100 Camp. I attended FBU in late April 2011 and received a "Top Gun" invite based on my performance there.  I attended  Under Armour combine and received an All-Madden invite based on that camp.  I attended Future Phenom Combine in Brooklyn NY in May, and was ranked the top offensive lineman.

My coach last year at The Hill School was Marty Vollmuth, who recently retired.  Coach Grey Simpson, who was on the staff, has been named our new Head Coach.
