My name is Jakob Weisbrod. I am currently a 5’ 9” varsity place kicker and punter in Clark, South Dakota with a GPA of 3.6 and will graduate in 2014.
I began playing football my sophomore year as the varsity kicker after numerous years of playing soccer. My sophomore year I completed 19 of 25 extra point attempts for a team with a record of 6-2 during regular season. My junior year I led the state in total kick-off yardage and average kick-off distance. I also lead the state in point after kicks with a 25-27 record of a team that made it to the state semi-finals.
I am also a wrestler and a 5 time letter winner. My freshman varsity season included winning three high school tournaments, District Champion, 3rd place Regions and was a state qualifier. I followed by becoming the 2011 AAU Cadet State Champion at 130 pounds. My sophomore varsity season included winning three high school tournaments, District runner-up, Regions runner-up and placed 4th in the SD State Tournament. I was awarded the team MVP, Captain Award and Hustler awards. This was followed by placing second in the 2012 AAU State Tournament at 138 pounds. My junior year I was a team captain and won all eight regular season tournaments I entered, Regional Champion and State runner-up and was named first team all-state.
My goal for the upcoming 2013 season is to provide a positive impact on my entire team through mentorship, leadership, team spirit and a positive attitude.
I believe I will be an asset to any team with a strong drive and leadership qualities as demonstrated as a team captain. I believe in working not only hard but smart.
Upon high school graduation I wish to continue as a student athlete seeking to develop my spirit, mind and body. Most importantly, I wish to continue my education in a challenging environment. I am very interested in a pre-med program because ultimately I plan to pursue a career as a pediatric surgeon. I prefer to attend school in a Christian environment in a medium size to small college in the Mid-West or South East, but I am open to other opportunities if I feel that the atmosphere would be a good match.
