Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Ryan Smith.
I was a team captain and two-way starter as a junior this year and we ended the season at 13-1, won our league championship, and ranked 1st in the Southern Region, and 3rd nationally for homeschool teams. Offensively, I lead the state of SC in rushing and scoring (1st for home schoolers nationally) with 1,854 yards on 244 carries (~155 yds/game, 7.5+ yds/carry, 21TDs, & five 2-point conversions). Defensively, I was ranked in the top-20 tacklers nationally amongst home schoolers. I was also named all-conference RB/LB.
Both of my parents were scholar athletes and I am determined to follow in their footsteps. My sport of choice is football, and I would like to play at a respected and academically-oriented D-1 school. While I am excited about any opportunities, I am particularly interested in the Service Academies, ROTC, Ivy League, and/or Christian schools. I have the aptitude, grades, and test scores (my 10/1/2016 SAT was a 1420) to matriculate and the work ethic to succeed as a student/athlete.
I am very active in Civil Air Patrol and promote regularly. I was selected to oversee logistics at the recent 2016 SC Wing Summer Encampment for over 140 cadets (our largest Encampment in nearly a decade). I am hardworking and thrive in areas where it requires teamwork and leadership. While there is always a vocal element of leadership, I prefer to lead more by example and have been a team captain each year I've played. I am an easy player to coach, and constantly trying to improve my physical attributes. Please feel free to contact any of my coaches to learn more about my abilities both on and off the field. I will represent your school well and be a leader on the field and in the classroom. I appreciate you taking the time to review my profile.
Sincerely,
Ryan Smith
