Personal Statement
Currently I am a rising senior from South Carolina playing Varsity Football for Wando High School (the largest high school in South Carolina). I started at OLB as a sophomore but played ILB and some running back as a junior.
As an 8th grader I was elected team captain for Bishop England's JV High School Football Team (the other two captains were all sophomores) before matriculation in 2015 at Wando. Although there is a Freshman B Team at Wando High School, I was selected to play running back and linebacker for the JV squad as a freshman. By season's end, I played offense, defense, and special teams. and was one of only two players to play both ways. During my freshman year, I rushed for 9 touchdowns with over 600 yards, and was the leading tackler in the two games I started at linebacker. I earned Wando JV Player of the Week twice in eight games against two top teams in SC (Summerville and Goose Creek). In 10th grade, I started all games playing left OLB. I serve on the War Council for the Varsity Program (e.g. Sophomore Captain and Junior Captain for next year) and came in second on the team for the summer strength and speed index that includes the lineman. I set a school record for solo tackles in a game with 13 tackles. I have 192 career tackles going into my senior season..
My goal is to play college football at an institution that affords me the opportunity to play football and excel in academics. I hope one day to pursue a career in medicine like both of my parents. What separates me from other recruits is my work ethic and drive especially given my age (both in and out of the classroom). I have had a lawn business since age 13. Getting up at 6am before school to work out is not uncommon for me nor is putting in long hours reading at night. My family is very important to me. My parents both attended Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown, Ohio and then Notre Dame. While football is important, staying grounded with academics is important in our household. Inside the classroom, I maintain averages in the mid 90's in all classes and was fortunate enough to already take the SAT in the 7th grade. When I was 12, I was the SC Champ in the 100m and 200m for Hershey Track and came in 7th nationally representing Alabama, Georgia, Florida, SC, NC, Virginia, West Virginia
Despite these academic and athletic accomplishments, I continue to work hard each day training before and after school. I appreciate your consideration over the next few years to earn a scholarship at your school and hope you will watch me grow as a student athlete. I humbly ask for a chance to be considered at your school. I will put the team before myself and use my work ethic, values, skills, and academic abilities to help the team wherever I am needed.
