Personal Statement

I have been playing football for twelve years; I am a leader on and off the field; in the classroom I participate in all discussions and apply myself to the best of my ability; I was raised in a single parent environment and I have one younger sister nine years my junior, who I help take care of.  I respect authority and I live by certain core values.  I believe a man's character is assessed by choosing the harder right over the easier wrong.  I believe in practicing as I play, I am passionate about this game, and I will leave it all on the field.  A good leader on and off the field provides purpose, direction, and motivation to his teammates; I like to feel I fill that role.  I believe the choices made early in one's life set the ethical foundation that person lives by for the rest of their life.  I have been raised to believe that loyalty, duty, selfless service, and integrity are not just words that are spoken but are concepts that are lived daily.  I understand that information is power and education is information, therefore my goal is to continue my education.  I am striving to make a better life for myself and my family by gaining a college degree and sports will assist in that endeavor.

I attend Byron P. Steele HS in Cibolo, TX.  I graduate in 2017 and am the starting strong side defensive tackle for the Steel Knights.  I am 6'2 1/2" tall and weigh 290 pounds. I had a busy 2015 summer attending four National Underclassman Combines and Camps and three Division 1 camps. I continued my camp participation in 2016 by attending three more D1 camps around the state of Texas.  I led District 25-6A in tackles (75) @ my position; I achieved All-District honors in 2015; my team's defense was rated #1 in San Antonio for the 2015 season, only giving up 12 points a game.

If given the opportunity to play ball for you, I pledge to work hard, study diligently, and obey all the rules.  Being a young HS football player, I do not claim to know all/be all about my position. I would like the opportunity to advance my skills by attending a first class program such as yours.  My number one strength is that I am coachable, loyal, and passionate about this game.  I also bring good size and strength to my position.

  • Barry Every is one of the most prominent and respected analysts in the USA and is the Director of National Player Analysis for NUC Sports and provided the following comments: Rank #5 NUC Top Prospect (#1 DT) for Class 2017, based on those attributes needed to play college football at the next level. The defensive line group on day one was very competitive and easily one of the deeper position groups. Williams clearly passes the eyeball test for an interior line prospect. He has a great frame and is not sloppy in any region of his body. This guy comes off the ball hard and low using his size and strength to overpower less athletic offensive lineman. Williams is tough and is not afraid to really get nasty at the point of attack to win the one-on-one battle. He keeps his hands out from not allowing the offensive lineman an opportunity to win the hand position battle. Though he did not win an award he was clearly the top defensive tackle at Top Prospect Elite. He will need to work on some counter pass rushing moves and not rely on his size and strength so much. If he continues to add weight slowly while maintaining his athleticism he could become a monster sized athletic nosed tackle.
