My 10 year plan includes achieving a doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, with a minor in United States History, while participating in an outstanding football program that focuses on more than game day. I have started as a center on highly competitive Texas 6a varsity team since the beginning of my sophomore year, never missed a game and played injury free. I am relied upon to relay the offensive signals to both the quarterback and offensive line. I enjoy analyzing game film, reading the defense, and calling the appropriate blocking scheme to disrupt the defense and execute our play. I am an excellent leader and I have been designated as a captain for the 2017 season. I have been told many times by both my coaches and peers that I am a very coach-able athlete. If I make a mistake, I have a “fail fast” attitude in that I immediately review the film, seek guidance, and practice until I have remediated the issue. Outside of football I volunteer with the Special Olympics and various community events. In my senior year, I plan to be heavily involved in both the Leadership and AP History Clubs, as well. In addition, I also help coach my little brother’s Keller Youth Association football team. I keep my head focused during school and I am well liked by all of my teachers and school staff. In June of 2010, my older brother was diagnosed with Leukemia. After 3 years of chemotherapy he was in remission and cancer free. During those years, TCU students and Athletes would visit the Oncology floor and play with my brother and I. It was then that I knew I wanted to attend college and do the same. On Mother’s Day of 2017, I lost my mother. While I have always taken AP courses, focused on my academics, and volunteered in the community, both my brother’s battle with cancer and her funeral forced me to realize that life is precious, short and not guaranteed. I will use my position as a college athlete to continue to reach out to the community, and participate in as many volunteer programs as I can.
