Deven Langston '18 Recruiting Profile

I learned about teamwork, determination, overcoming obstacles, and leadership when I began playing sports at the age of five. Our team motto was "Heads Up Don't Quit!" Earning Academic All-State proved to me that hard work pays off.  I played basketball, football, baseball, and ran track.   Over the years, we won several championships, lost hard games, build lasting friendships, and had a ton of fun. I’m ready to take my work ethic to another level.

In order to achieve my goals, I will continue doing what I know to do.  I tackle the classroom with the same "Head's Up! Don't Quit" attitude that I have on the field.  I listen to the expectations, ask questions when I don't understand, follow the rules, and make good choices.  My teachers, peers, coaches, and friends respect me and know they can count on me.  I maintain a high GPA, have been voted by my classmates for various honors, and my teachers can count on me..

Being able to give back to my community is important to me.  There are many teachers, coaches, friends, and family that have always looked out for me.  I want to help others the way they helped me.  I can't help everyone but I can help someone.  

I know I will stop playing football eventually not matter what level I play. When I do, I will need off-field skills that translate to income.  I will use everything I have learned in sports along with what I learn in college to earn respect and trust not only in my career but also in my community. No matter where I go, I will never forget, "Heads Up! Don't Quit!"
