Personal Statement
My name is Brooks Holder and I am a 4 sport letterman at A.C. Jones High School in Beeville, Texas. Quarterback and defensive back in football, Post/wing/guard in basketball, pitcher/centerfielder/shortstop in baseball and 110 & 300m hurdles, 1600m relay anchor and high jump in track,I qualified for the Regional Track meet this spring in the 300 IH & 1600 Relay, just missed going to the State meet in the 300 IH. I am the Vice President of A.C. Jones' Key Club, a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and attend Providence Presbyterian Church. I was chosen as a finalist for the Corpus Christi/Citgo Regional Scholar Athlete Award this year. I am a very hard worker, and I believe my coaches will tell you that I am very coachable. I am one of the captains of my football team and take that role very seriously. I do my best to influence my teammates to "rise above the influence" of alcohol and drugs as I do. My coaches will tell you that I am a "lead by example" type of player, I work hard and expect my teammates to do the same to achieve our goals. They will also tell you I am a very durable and self disciplined player who plays through pain and injury, as I started every game for our team since my sophomore year. I am in my Senior year and have started at QB for the last three years and also at Free Safety this year, going both ways. We have a run oriented attack, so my stats don't look that impressive when compared to spread oriented offenses, but all of the camps I have attended, the instructors have commented on my arm strength, accuracy, vision, footwork, mechanics and poise and I have never had a QB rating below 105. I threw only one interception this year against 12 TD passes. I was selected to and attended FBU's TopGun Camp in Virginia this past July and had a great experience there . This was quite an honor and I feel very fortunate and humbled to have been chosen to attend and it was really great being able to measure my abilities against some of the finest athletes in the country. Of all 4 sports, football is my passion and I believe I can play at the next level, as do my coaches. I worked very hard this offseason to increase my speed, strength and power and attended several camps, combines and showcases to improve my mechanics and techniques. I attented the Texas Showcase Combine and was selected as the MVP Quarterback. I am in a growth spurt right now, and have grown 2" since school started and right now I am trying to add mass to my frame. Our team is currently in the Texas State Playoffs in Division 4A. I am undecided on what my major will be in college, but math and science are my strongest subjects and I am leaning toward a career in Physical Therapy or Training. My coaches will tell you that I have the heart, desire, intelligence and skills to play college football, and I sincerely would like the opportunity to show that I can play at the next level.
